MOV to GIF, without the upload
MOV is the video format Apple devices use. Every clip you record on an iPhone or iPad, and every screen recording you make with QuickTime on a Mac, is usually a MOV file. Snipgif turns these clips into GIFs you can send to anyone, whatever phone or computer they use.
Your video is converted on your own device. Nothing is uploaded, so family videos and work recordings stay with you.
Videos your browser can’t play still convert
Newer iPhones often record in HEVC, which some browsers can’t play. When that happens, Snipgif shows still-frame previews of the clip instead of the moving video. You can still trim, crop, and convert as usual, and the GIF comes out the same.
Trim, crop, and caption
Phone videos tend to be long, and the moment you want is a few seconds of it. Drag the start and end points on the timeline to pick your clip, up to 30 seconds long.
Vertical phone videos look best cropped to 9:16 for stories or 1:1 for posts. Add a caption with your own text, font, and color, or change the speed for a slow-motion or sped-up effect.
Tips for iPhone users
- Pick a short moment. A 3 to 5 second clip makes a GIF that loads quickly in messages.
- Use a smaller width. Phone videos are high resolution, but chat apps show GIFs small. The “Small for chat” preset handles this for you.
- Long videos use a lot of memory. If your phone runs out of memory, choose a shorter clip or a smaller width and try again.
