Turn any MP4 clip into a GIF
MP4 is the format most phones, cameras, and screen recorders save to, so it is usually the video you already have. Snipgif turns it into a GIF that plays everywhere: in chat apps, email, documents, and on websites that don’t play video.
The whole conversion happens in your browser. Your MP4 is never sent to a server, so private clips stay private, and you don’t wait for an upload to finish before you can start.
Pick the exact moment
Most videos are longer than the GIF you want. The timeline lets you drag a start and end point and watch the preview until the clip is just right. GIFs can run up to 30 seconds, but shorter clips loop better and stay small.
Make it fit where it’s going
- Crop to 1:1 for profile posts, 16:9 for wide screens, or 9:16 for stories.
- Change the speed, play it in reverse, or turn it into a back-and-forth boomerang loop.
- Add a caption in meme style, with your choice of font, color, and position.
- Pick a preset: “Small for chat” keeps files light, “Balanced” suits most uses, and “High quality” keeps more detail. You can also set the frame rate and width yourself.
Keep the file small
GIFs store every frame as a full image, so they grow much larger than the MP4 they came from. Shorter clips, a lower frame rate, and a smaller width make the biggest difference. If a finished GIF is still too large, run it through the GIF Compressor to cut colors or skip frames.
